Personal Narrative & Digital Storytelling

Want to learn how write a meaningful story based on a personal experience?

Personal narratives focus on a specific real-life event that is pivotal for the writer. Digital storytelling adds powerful layers of sound, imagery, text or music to enhance those narratives. This introductory workshop covers:

  • brainstorming story ideas
  • writing memorable narrative
  • video script format

2 hour session. No experience necessary. All supplies provided.

First Person

Want to create your very own digital story?

Come experience a creative process that teaches people with little to no computer or media experience how to write, craft, and edit a digital story based on a personal experience. Each participant completes one digital story in collaboration with media artist.

Participants provide story assets. Video editing equipment supplied by media artist. Instructor: Nan Toskey

Workshops consist of 4 weekly 2 hour sessions, plus remote video editing with media artist:

2 – Writing Personal Voice Stories
3 – Crafting a Video Script
4 – Story Making Production
